How to decorate your Bach or Holiday home.

A Bach or Holiday home is a place where you can step outside the realms of ‘ safe’ decorating, as it’s a place you retreat to, to relax in and take time out from everyday living.  This doesn’t mean you have to go wild with a theme or bold colours, but you certainly can if you so choose.

As an interior designer who speacialises in creating Hamptons style interiors, and also has a great appreciation for the East Coast NY aesthetic and a love of the Ocean, I know which direction I would take the decorating style of a Bach. Whether your bach is a new build or renovated, in the country or by the beach, this style can certainly be adapted to complement whatever its surroundings may be.  This style is all about layering neutral tones and textures through the architecture of the space and larger furniture pieces, and bringing in contrasting pops of colour and pattern through accent pieces like window treatments, armchairs and cushions.

I must confess, I am a little bias towards this look, and thought I would share a couple of inspiration images for achieving this in a bach or holiday home.
